To sea
Book early and confirm the sea state on the day.
For your first active trip, choose a base between Dénia, Jávea or Calpe and book a maximum of one guided activity per day. Kayaking and snorkeling depend on the sea state; the trails require attention to the heat. Spring and early fall typically offer the best balance.
The activities on the Costa Blanca go far beyond spending the day on the sand. Cliffs, marine reserves, coves, natural parks and nearby mountains allow you to organize kayaking, snorkeling, diving, hiking and boat trips. The quality of the experience depends above all on the base chosen, the time and the correct reading of the conditions.

Dénia works well for Les Rotes, Cabo de San Antonio, Montgó and sea connections. Jávea brings the traveler closer to Granadella, Portitxol and cliffs. Calpe combines the Peñón de Ifach, coves and a wide range of tours. Alicante is practical for city, urban beaches and boat excursions.
Avoid choosing accommodation solely based on price. An activity at eight in the morning can become difficult if you are an hour away from the meeting point. Confirms parking, pedestrian access and real travel time in the summer.
Anyone who wants to try various activities must stay at least four nights. Changing bases every day adds traffic and reduces useful time at sea or on rail.
Granadella, Portitxol, Cabo de San Antonio and some areas of Altea are popular for kayaking. The route should be chosen based on the wind, waves and experience of the group, not just based on photographs. A responsible operator changes or cancels the departure when the sea is unsafe.
Ask if the service includes a vest, waterproof bag, technical explanation, insurance and guide. On routes with caves, entry depends on the swell and should never be guaranteed. Children need age, size and autonomy appropriate to the operator’s rules.
Take water-resistant sun protection, a strap for glasses and clothing that can get wet. The cell phone must be kept in a really waterproof bag, attached to the boat.

Les Rotes, the Cabo de San Antonio Marine Reserve, Tabarca and the coves of Jávea offer interesting backgrounds. Visibility varies with wind, rain, currents and number of people. Leaving early usually improves peace of mind and parking.
Do not step on posidonia, do not remove shells or animals and do not feed fish. Use a buoy outside marked areas and avoid swimming alone. In a diving initiation, it confirms the center’s certification, instructor-participant relationship and medical evaluation.
Water shoes help in rocky entrances, but do not replace attention. If there are waves, choose a sheltered beach or postpone it. The desire to “take advantage of the reservation” must not outweigh safety.
The Montgó, the Serra Gelada, the Peñón de Ifach and the Benitatxell cliff route show another Costa Blanca. Some itineraries appear short on the map, but include loose rock, uneven terrain and exposure to the sun. In summer, it starts at dawn and avoids central hours.
Peñón de Ifach has access control at certain times and the upper section is not suitable for everyone. Serra Gelada requires water and protection, despite its urban proximity. In Montgó, choose the route according to preparation and temperature.
Always consult official park sources, weather forecasts and possible closures due to fire risk. Take more water than you would use on a similar hike in cool weather.

A short trip allows you to observe the coast without taking up the day. Sail and catamaran give more space; fast boats reach the coves quickly, but offer less stability. People prone to seasickness should choose morning, larger boat and ventilated place.
Confirm capacity, shade, bathroom, drinks, bathing stops and port of departure. “Sunset” does not necessarily mean sailing throughout the evening; asks for departure and return time.
For Tabarca, check actual time on the island and last vessel. For connections from Dénia, distinguish ferry from tourist excursion: objective, duration and conditions are different.
Spring and September-October are usually excellent for walking and paddling, with more moderate temperatures. In summer, book early, choose early hours and accept that wind or crowding may force you to change your plan. In winter there are magnificent days, but the number of operators is smaller.
Do not book kayaking, boating and diving on consecutive days without shore. A change of sea can affect everything. Keep at least one day flexible and prepare alternatives: castles, markets, historic centers, museums or gastronomy.
Compare cancellation policies. A slightly higher price with weather changes may be worth more than a rigid rate.
“Easy” can mean different things to an operator and a traveler. When kayaking, ask about the distance, effective paddling time, possibility of return wind and type of boat. When snorkeling, confirm depth, entry into the water, use of a vest and whether it is necessary to know how to swim. On the trails, evaluate unevenness, exposure to the sun, loose terrain and lack of shade, not just the advertised kilometers.
Informs operator about injuries, fear of water, previous experience and age of children. A responsible service adapts the proposal or recommends another activity. Be wary of programs that guarantee the same route regardless of the sea state or that do not explain cancellation criteria. On the Costa Blanca, wind, waves and heat can change the plane even with clear skies.
Between June and September, the early morning hours are best for trails, kayaking and busy coves. There is less heat, more likely parking and often calmer seas. In the late afternoon, the light is beautiful, but it is necessary to consider the return and reduction of services. In spring and autumn, the temperature favors long walks; Still, water and sun protection remain essential.
In winter, many coastal routes remain accessible, but the days are short and some operators reduce opening times. Always check whether nearby showers, restaurants and transport are open outside of high season. After heavy rain, avoid ravines and paths near cliffs until there is reliable information about the state of the terrain.
The operator must indicate what they provide: kayak, paddle, vest, waterproof bag, isothermal suit, mask or helmet. Bring shoes that can get wet, water, resistant sun protection and a dry change. Do not attach loose objects to your body during water activities. For trails, download the map and take enough battery; mobile coverage fails in some valleys and mountain areas.
Check if your travel insurance covers the specific activity. Operator insurance does not necessarily replace personal medical assistance or cancellation. At sea, do not touch fauna, do not collect shells and use existing entry points. On land, stay on the paths and avoid shortcuts that accelerate erosion. An adventure experience is only good when it leaves the place in the same conditions.
Use Dénia or Jávea as a base for two days dedicated to kayaking, snorkeling and short trails between Les Rotes, Montgó and nearby coves. Change only once, to Calpe or Altea, and reserve another two days for the Peñón de Ifach, coast and boat trip. Keep the fifth day as a weather buffer or for a lighter activity. This organization reduces driving hours and allows you to reschedule a sea trip without destroying your itinerary.
Do not combine demanding climbing and intense water activity on the same day. Heat and dehydration build up. Alternate effort, rest and gastronomy, and choose accommodation with space to dry your equipment. If you travel in a group, each person must know the program and be able to refuse an activity without being isolated.
Before payment, ask for the legal name of the operator, local contact, meeting point, actual duration and list of materials. Confirms whether the activity is operated by the company selling it or by a third party. Photographs must represent the usual route, but sea and visibility can never be guaranteed. Read recent reviews looking for information about safety, communication and cancellation management, not just comments about friendliness.
Keep your receipt and arrive as early as indicated. If the operator changes the schedule or schedule for safety reasons, he or she evaluates the alternative with common sense. An explained change is preferable to entering the sea in unsuitable conditions. If the new proposal is substantially different, ask about the options provided for in the terms.
